Several years ago, 7 Stud poker was undoubtedly the most popular poker game in the world, and today many players still prefer this game, whether it is poker online or live version. Nearly as popular as Texas Hold’em, stud 7 games have one big advantage over Texas Holdem games: 7 cards stud poker gives a simple opportunity for a gambler to see what combination of seven stud cards your opponent has or what he changes them for. This is demonstrated in the movie of Rounders where Matt Damon sees his professor playing 7 Cards Stud poker and then after a while he loudly announces what every player has. The 7 Card Stud poker games are totally doable.
Rules for 7 Card Stud are very simple. Games usually take place in a version with a fixed limit, while one can also play the games with a pot limit. Each player is dealt two cards face down and one card face up. Then the player with the lowest rated card (in the game with a fixed limit) makes the first bet, which is called the bring-in. He can make a full time or make less then half of the bet size.
Then each player must act clockwise and he can either throw or take a raise. After each player has made an action for anyone who stayed in the game, there dealt another card face down and the next betting round starts and so on. Then the next card is dealt face up and a new round of betting starts.
The last seventh card is dealt face down and the last round of betting starts. Therefore, in the end each player, which remained in the bank must have three cards face down and four cards face up. When the betting round ends, the players show cards and a gambler having the best 5-card ranking hand wins the pot. The same situation happens in Texas Hold’em.
Although the majority of poker rooms offer 7 Card Stud both with Fixed-Limit and Pot-Limit, you should check whether they pass any games, as some rooms have a good traffic just in Texas Hold’em. In addition, if you’re new to the game, you should choose a room that offers 7-Card Stud with low rates that you can play at a suitable level.
